Reaching new heights by igniting innovation
The AMETEK Foundation supports Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School by equipping it with technologies that encourage innovation and creativity.
At AMETEK, we understand that the future of technology and manufacturing depends on cultivating the next generation of innovators. That is why we are committed to supporting initiatives that empower young minds to explore and excel in STEM education. Through partnerships with organizations like Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, we aim to inspire curiosity, foster creativity, and equip students with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly advancing industry.
Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, a college preparatory school serving students of all faiths, is a shining example of how education can transform lives. The school’s rigorous application process ensures that deserving students who are passionate about their education are granted admission, opening doors and providing opportunities. With over 500 enrolled, Cristo Rey Philadelphia impacts more underserved students than any other private school in Pennsylvania.
Students at Cristo Rey Philadelphia work together to build a robot that will compete in a FIRST Robotics tournament. This program was funded by the AMETEK Foundation. Through support from the AMETEK Foundation, Cristo Rey Philadelphia’s STEAM Club lab has become a hub of creativity and discovery. Funding from the Foundation has enabled the school to outfit its lab with cutting-edge tools like 3D printers, laptops, tablets, and laser engravers—technologies that have ignited excitement among students and tripled participation in their after-school STEAM Club. These tools reinforce classroom concepts and connect them with real-world applications.
Along with furnishing the lab, the AMETEK Foundation has funded the school’s FIRST Robotics Club and Science Olympiad Team. Students can leverage resources from the STEAM Club lab to design, test, and refine their entries into tournaments.
Supported by the AMETEK Foundation, students gather around a 3D printer that empowers them to turn their creative concepts into reality. “With the Foundation's continued generosity, we have been able to foster a dynamic learning environment, driving innovation and encouraging our students to explore the depths of STEAM with boundless enthusiasm,” said Adam Mesewicz, Cristo Rey Philadelphia’s STEAM Club Coordinator. “From graphic design to flying drones, we are helping students to discover all that STEAM encompasses.”
While funding from the AMETEK Foundation equips the school’s STEAM lab, Cristo Rey Philadelphia is helping to equip students with the confidence and understanding of how to use the latest technologies. By empowering schools like Cristo Rey Philadelphia to nurture the next STEM leaders, AMETEK is investing in a future where technological solutions make life better for everyone.
Cristo Rey Philadelphia students leverage the lab’s technology to nurture their innovative imaginations. One student used a 3D printer to build a miniature drone and is now working on getting her FAA certification to fly larger drones. Another student felt inspired by an illuminated picture frame that she saw at the mall, so she used a laser engraver and a 3D printer to build her own. About The AMETEK Foundation
