Phantom High-Speed Cameras is a global leader in high-speed imaging technology based in Wayne, NJ, USA. Our Achievements
Phantom has been advancing the science of high-speed imaging since 1950.
This AMETEK business was originally founded as the Photographic Analysis Company, specializing in high-speed photography. For over forty years, the company’s film-based cameras were widely used among industry professionals.
In 1992, part of the company spun off to develop electronic high-speed imagers without film – thus creating the Phantom® camera line, earning a U.S. patent for digital imaging innovation, and evolving into the cutting-edge AMETEK business we know it as today.
Today, Phantom High-Speed continues to push the boundaries of imaging technology. Partnering with R&D teams around the world, this AMETEK business empowers breakthroughs in scientific measurement and field testing across applications like aerospace, automotive testing, industrial inspection, and medical research.
Recent innovations include the Phantom KT-Series—compact, high-performance cameras featuring nanosecond exposure times and back-side illuminated (BSI) sensors for superior low-light performance—and Phantom Cine Analyzer (PCA) software, which offers a Python interface for fast, precise object tracking and automated reporting.

Building the next generation of innovators
Phantom is committed to inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders.
In 2023, Phantom High-Speed participated in Learn Fresh’s NBA Math Hoops Global Championship at Madison Square Garden, an event proudly sponsored by the AMETEK Foundation. This immersive STEM experience brought together elementary and middle school aged students from the U.S. and Australia for a weekend of learning, creativity, and exploration.
During the event, Phantom High-Speed team members demonstrated its high-speed camera technology, showing students how Phantom cameras are used in sports instant replay, movies, animal behavior research, and sustainability applications. Students also created their own slow-motion highlight reels, giving them a hands-on look at how science and technology intersect with entertainment.
Phantom, in collaboration with the AMETEK Foundation, looks forward to continuing its partnership with Learn Fresh to support STEM education and make learning both fun and impactful.
