AMETEK Foundation supports initiative to deliver millions of meals to those in need
In matching the contributions of a team of employees at Haydon Kerk Pittman, the AMETEK Foundation, the charitable giving arm of AMETEK Inc., recently supported the Connecticut Foodshare in its efforts to tackle hunger and food insecurity in Connecticut, USA.
AMETEK’s linear and rotary motion solutions business, Haydon Kerk Pittman (HKP), which is based in Waterbury, CT, has been a long-time supporter of Connecticut Foodshare.
Connecticut Foodshare is the food bank serving the people of Connecticut and a member of the national Feeding America network. Last year, Connecticut Foodshare distributed enough food to provide 37.5 million meals through a network of more than 650 community-based hunger-relief programs, including food pantries, meal programs and mobile distribution sites, while also working on long-term solutions to food insecurity. In the Waterbury area alone, 1 in 5 people lives in poverty, and 16.7% of the population is food-insecure.

The team at HKP has made a commitment to annually volunteer and donate to this organization, and employees at the business have donated more than 1,000 pounds of food, volunteered more than 300 hours, and packed more than 1,000 grocery kits for distribution to food-insecure community members.
“HKP is a very engaged business and continuously supports Connecticut Foodshare with office-wide volunteerism and fundraising,” said Genna, Director of Human Resources at HKP. “The Greater Waterbury Area is an underserved area of Connecticut in comparison to other major cities such as Hartford. Seeing the need continue to grow, and having the opportunity to partner with such an amazing organization as Connecticut Foodshare, gives us an opportunity to make a positive difference in our community. HKP’s activities have inspired colleagues to continue giving and volunteering in other ways to make the community even better.”
“We are extremely appreciative of the continued support of the team at HKP and the AMETEK Foundation year after year since 2018,” said Beverly Catchpole, Chief Giving Officer at Connecticut Foodshare. It is because of compassionate community members that we can mobilize and provide those in need with nutritious, essential meals. Our vision is a thriving community free of hunger, and with partners like HKP and the AMETEK Foundation, we can one day make that happen.”
