AMETEK helps provide sustainable support for young people with special needs in the UK

The AMETEK Foundation has contributed financial support to the Bamboozle Theatre Company to match employee engagement from AMETEK’s team at Taylor Hobson.

Located in Leicestershire, UK, the Bamboozle Theatre Company provides artistic and educational activities for learning disabled students and young people. It leverages inspiring projects such as theater performances that deliver multi-sensory, fully accessible, immersive experiences for children with profound and complex needs alongside their parents, carers, teachers, and others working with them.

Taylor Hobson, a company within the AMETEK family of businesses, is an ultra-precision technology company operating at the highest levels of accuracy within the field of surface and form metrology. Matched only by its innovation is its team’s dedication to giving back.

Taylor Hobson recently ran a volunteer week during which employees turned a dilapidated building and overgrown garden into a usable area on the local community allotment that Bamboozle uses for projects. Seventeen employees worked for a total of 160 hours to complete the project. The result is a family garden that is a calming, safe and tranquil environment, with improved accessibility for wheelchairs.

Colleagues also donated via Payroll Giving and held two charity bake sales on behalf of Bamboozle.

“Bamboozle’s immersive theater performances, and the way in which they reach out to vulnerable children, are awe-inspiring and powerful,” said Jain, Special Applications Project Leader for Taylor Hobson. “When asked which charity everyone wished to support throughout 2022, the Taylor Hobson team put Bamboozle at the top of the list. This support will continue through 2023.”

“Too often in our society, learning disabled children are not heard. They can’t express themselves in ways that most of us take for granted, but they do have things to say,” said Christopher Davies, Artistic Director of Bamboozle. “We are appreciative of the team at Taylor Hobson and the AMETEK Foundation for strengthening our efforts to build a more inclusive society where everyone has a voice.”
