Measure injected CO₂ in Carbon Capture and Storage applications with Solartron ISA’s new subsea CarbonStream flow meter

Solartron ISA, a leading global supplier of flow measurement solutions, is helping to enable a more sustainable future by launching the new CarbonStream subsea carbon dioxide (CO₂) injection meter with a unique built-in FloCalculator.
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) removes large quantities of CO₂ from the environment and sequesters it into underground geological formations. As global financial and regulatory models evolve, the requirement to accurately measure CO₂ at each transfer point has become increasingly relevant and urgent. Within the CO₂ supply chain, the final (and most important) metering point will be the injection point at the subsea well. As well as being remote, this location provides some of the harshest environments for equipment designers to overcome.
“We’re excited to launch the new CarbonStream CO₂ injection meter, a lightweight, low-maintenance, first-of-its-kind solution for subsea CO₂ measurement,” said Chris Waller, Business Development Manager, Solartron ISA. “The CarbonStream was specifically designed to advance sustainability in the industry and ultimately reduce environmental emissions, all while backed by decades of experience in design and manufacturing subsea metering solutions.”
The CarbonStream has pressure, differential pressure, and non-intrusive temperature sensors and the unique onboard FloCalculator, provides real-time flow rate data whilst accounting for the complex behaviour of CO₂ and associated impurities.
