WAYNE, N.J. – Vision Research, a leading manufacturer of high speed digital imaging systems, has donated a Phantom® HD GOLD digital high-speed camera to New York University’s (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts. The Phantom HD GOLD gives professionals in the entertainment, sports, digital cinema and television production markets the ability to capture impressive ultra slow-motion video. It is anticipated that the camera will be used by graduate and undergraduate cinematography students.

AbleCine, a leading supplier of professional film and digital equipment and Vision Research’s partner in entertainment sales in North America, will oversee the relationship between NYU and Vision Research. AbelCine will train the professors on how to use the camera and maintain the service contract for the university. The Phantom HD GOLD camera system is expected to be included in advanced cinematography classes and be used in a classroom setting to teach students the production and workflow aspects of digital high-speed photography.

“We are very grateful that Vision Research has provided our students with the opportunity to work with the Phantom HD GOLD,” states Mike Carmine, Associate Arts Professor and the Director of Cinematography Studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. “This is certain to be an advantageous learning experience for them as the use of high-speed imaging technology is growing in both the broadcast and entertainment industries.”

“It is important to us at Vision Research to give young filmmakers the opportunity to use this technology,” notes Rick Robinson, Division VP of Marketing for Vision Research. “Through hands-on experience with the Phantom HD GOLD, students at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts can train in high-speed digital imaging and become more knowledgeable filmmakers.”

Vision Research’s Phantom HD GOLD has emerged as one of the most sought after digital high-speed cameras. The camera, which has a range of 1 to 1,000 frames-per-second, is used for TV commercials, music videos, documentaries, motion pictures and sporting events. The Phantom HD GOLD offers 35mm depth of field either at HD or 2K resolutions. The camera is fully compatible with Vision Research’s acclaimed CineMag™ memory magazine and CineStation docking stations that allow footage to be stored downloaded to a PC for editing.
