AMETEK SPECIALTY METAL PRODUCTS ACQUIRES ANCOR SPECIALTIES STAINLESS STEEL POWERS

EIGHTY FOUR, PA, June 26, 2009--AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP), a world leader in metal powder manufacturing, has purchased the ANCOR® Specialties stainless steel powder business from Hoeganaes Corporation.
“ANCOR Specialties stainless steel powders make an excellent addition to our existing stainless steel powder business, expanding our capabilities for both our 300 and 400 Series powders,” comments Patrick McGeehan, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK SMP.
“These powders offer superior long-term performance and reliability as well as outstanding corrosion resistance and are used in a wide range of demanding applications, including automotive exhaust systems, industrial lock and hardware components, marine and medical instruments.”
AMETEK will begin immediately to service ANCOR Specialties customers and will work closely with Hoeganaes to ensure a smooth transition as AMETEK relocates production equipment to its Eighty Four, PA, powder metal manufacturing facility.
AMETEK SMP is a leader in stainless steel, cobalt and nickel alloy metal powder for powder metallurgy, thermal spray, metal injection molding and polymer filtration.
It also produces highly engineered metal strip, specialty wire and advanced metal matrix composites for electronic thermal management. In addition, it manufactures stainless steel and nickel clad alloys for high-quality cookware, sterilizers, and chemical processing equipment as well as engineered-shaped components used in oil and gas production and other applications.
